Going Green Banner
Hello friends!  Kerry here!  I'm excited to make my first appearance as a Guest Designer and new Dream Team member here at the TAC Savvy Projects Blog and am thrilled to share a few goodies with you today.  This week is all about GREEN and at first I thought of RECYCLING and REPURPOSING things the color green was an afterthought.  I wanted to think of fun and clever ways to incorporate both so today you get to learn a little about me as a stamper and a "sewer" (I wouldn't exactly call myself a seamstress!)

I decided to work around a personal theme and a stamp set I hadn't used yet.  I'm sure you have a stamp set or two just sitting on your workspace calling your name too, right?  The set I selected is very special because not only is it this month's STAMP OF THE MONTH, it's a wonderful reminder of my beloved Grandpa....He'll always hold a special place in my heart.  Even though he's no longer with me, I think of him always and this card is for him!

My theme...Mr. GREEN JEANS...

Mr. Green Jeans
I'm not sure many of you know this, but I LOVE Copics!  Who doesn't, right?   Just about everything I do in relation to stamping involves my Copics or blending solution. I just can't get enough.  As you can see, this is quite a CAS (Clean and Simple) card but I wanted the focus to be the image, after all...My Grandpa still deserves to be the center of attention!

Mr. Green Jeans Color detail

Copics used in this design include:  G2, 24; YG03, 11, 95; BG10; Shoes and Hair:  C1, 3, 5; YR23; E31,33, 35, 50, colorless blender

Stamp sets used in this design:  T2890 Be Still, T3381 Good Things

Another thing I love to do is doodle.  You'll see that showing up in many of my stamped creations.  This time, I made a simple little patchwork strip to go across the top of the card.  After doodling the patches, I pulled in colors I used on the focal image then I set off to use my colorless blender to create some textured and patterned designs.  The dark green sections were just simple droplets of blending solution over the ink.  It's a great alcohol ink-like background technique I learned in Copic 1 Certification several years ago.  The other panels were either crosshatched with monochromatic colors or textured using the "ragging" method.  If you haven't tried it, it's very simple.  Just use any of a variety of textured cloths (paper towels, towels, burlap, muslin, etc.), apply blending solution directly to the cloth OR STAMP and you can achieve amazing textured effects.  You can see a closer look in the photo below.

Now, to keep with my "Mr. Green Jeans" theme (but now a LOT more girly), I'm sharing a little project I made from a pair of old jeans, some ribbon, a big old button, a flower, and of course, some of my favorite stamps.  You can make one of these for just about any bottle or container so give it a try!

Drink Jeans Final
Now, this was a FUN recycling project!  I just love my jeans but sadly, they do reach a point where they fall apart and I have to throw them out.  I love it when I can recycle parts like the pockets, the belt loops, and the...whole left leg!  LOL...

So how did I do it?  Well, it's just about as easy as 1,2, 3 and you don't even need a sewing machine!

Step 1:  Cut one leg off (mine was about 4 inches wide) and stamp a design on it using your favorite stamp set and some Staz0n ink.  For this project, I used "T3346 Background Soup".  I also roughed up the raw edge of the jeans by using my stylus.

Step 2:  Apply eyelets using Crop-a-dile.

Step 3:  Lace ribbon through eyelets.

Step 4:  Insert ribbon through flower.  This will allow the ribbon to tie/untie easily so you can use it for multiple styles of bottles (soda, beer, wine, etc.)

Step 5:  Thread ribbon through button and tie in a bow.   Drink Jeans project is complete!
