Little Love Loaves
Wednesday, September 15, 2010Little Love Loaves
Well, as you can see, there isn't much LOVE in the image above! If you haven't already figured it out ~ I have my own SAVVY way of doing things! And this is just one example!
We like to try new recipes at our house, however, sometimes they aren't all that. Like the recipe above. So I flag it as such. I can say we did give this recipe a second chance and it still got 2 THUMBS DOWN. It's now been permanently retired from our family menu.
And YES! I DO write in my cookbooks! Mainly because I can't remember what I do and don't like about recipes! So I make my notes right there! Someday my kids will chuckle about it!
And who knows ... they may chuckle about this also! My hubby and I LOVE meatloaf. Our kids HATE it. That stinks! So, instead of making meatloaf ... I do things like this. I make Little LOVE Loaves. My kids gobble them up! Even Boy doesn't mind that I mold them into heart shaped little loaves. They are so much FUN to eat! And so cute!
Here's the recipe for Little LOVE Loaves:
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
- 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce, divided
- 1 cup soft breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons dried minced onion flakes
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes ( I use 1)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup of brown sugar (Mischelle's addition)
- Large HEART shaped Cookie Cutter
Shape mixture into 6 {HEART} shaped loaves. I use my cookie cutter to do this.
Place on a greased rack of a broiler pan. (LINE your broiler pan with FOIL for easy cleanup).
Bake loaves, uncovered, at 450 degrees for 25 minutes or to desired doneness.
COMBINE remaining tomato sauce, parsley, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Remove pan from oven; pour tomato mixture over meat loaves. Bake 5 or more minutes. Makes 6 servings.
And then ENJOY! These are YUMMY!
Happy Paper Crafting!
Mischelle
