Mischelle Smith and a Blast From the Past ~ Pea Pickin'
Wednesday, February 09, 2011
This stamp set is most definitely a 'blast from the past' and a set that I never had the chance to play with very much ... so I was excited to pull it out and dust it off!
For my first two layouts I really wanted to work hard to incorporate designer papers! This isn't one of my strong points so I really wanted to make something work ... if I could! I must say ... this turned out to be a FUN challenge for myself!
I used Catelynne for this card and it couldn't have been any easier! I masked over the legs on my chick so they wouldn't appear on my image. Next I colored my image with Copic Markers and then used my pastel chalks to add in the blue sky and a bit more tan on the ground. I used a brown marker to add lots of dots and stitches! That was WAY too much fun! I also pulled out my white gel pen to add white dots to my chickie for highlights!
And then the rooster! I LOVE roosters and I really wanted one that was all country! Our Emma Paper Collection really hit the spot for me with this image ... I mean really! What's not cute about a polka dotted rooster! LOL!
This was a VERY simple card to create and I love how the paper piecing gives it a splash of whimsy with those dots and stripes! And speaking of dots ... of course I added even more with a black marker!
For this next card I wanted to keep away from patterned papers and focus on solid cardstocks. I have to say ~ this card took me the longest to create but only because I kept trying different color palettes ~ from coloring the turkey to adding in the cardstock to which color of ink I stamped with. It was a FUN process though!
I colored the turkey with Copic Markers. My red dots on the orange cardstock and the word are stamped with VersaMagic ink and then embossed. I finished up by taking a marker and adding stitching around the top part of the card.
I had the MOST FUN making this card and it turns out ... I LOVE this little turkey!
I hope you've enjoyed checking out my cards and this BLAST FROM THE PAST stamp set! This set will be available throughout this month so check with your Angel to snatch one up! Pea Pickin' and Random Pattern Blast from the Past Stamp Sets
Happy Paper Crafting!
