WAAAY to many years ago JoAnn Cisneros gave me this recipe for Cavatini.  Over time it has become one of mine and my families favorite meals.  And that includes my extended family at The Angel Company!  I'm pretty sure every one of us has this recipe by now!

Here is the original recipe JoAnn shared:

  1. 2 lbs., 14 oz. Spaghetti Sauce
  2. 18 oz. Pasta
  3. 1 lb. Italian Sausage
  4. 1 large can of mushrooms, drained
  5. 1 large can of sliced black olives, drained
  6. 6 oz. pepperoni's, cut into fourths
  7.  2 lbs. Mozzarella Cheese

Cook pasta following directions.  I suggest slightly under cooking the pasta because it will get baked.  Cook sausage and drain.  Mix in large bowl, pasta, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and spaghetti sauce.  Spread 1/2 of the mix into large baking dish (casserole pan).  Sprinkle 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese on top.  Add remaining mix and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top.  Cover with foil and bake in oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.  Uncover foil in last 10 minutes or so to get a crispy top.

This is how our family has tweaked this recipe to suit our taste buds.

  1. 1 large jar of Spaghetti sauce
  2. 12 oz. Italian Trio Pasta
  3. 1 lb. hamburger
  4. 1 small can of sliced black olives, drained
  5. 3 oz. pepperoni's, cut into fourths
  6. 2 lbs. Mozzarella Cheese

Serve with a salad and garlic bread!

Enjoy!
