HappinessIs

Happy Mother’s Day.

I am so excited to be starting a new week and a new sketch for A Card A Day in May.  The stamp set that I chose for my card is a level B hostess set called Happiness Is.  I LOVE this set and to me it just goes perfectly with one of our newest Soar With It Collections, Maggie.  The delicate colors seem to be just right for the image. I colored the girl with Copic markers and used Glossy Accents to glaze the glass jar.  I did offset the square cardstock and used one of the Maggie tags for the saying.

I  think the Glossy Accents adds a lot to the finished project!

I was having so much fun with the sketch that I couldn’t stop at just one card. So I made a card using our Emma SWIC and the stamp set T3383 – Rise and Shine.  I stamped the image with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics.  I am really loving these markers. I inked around the edges of the card and the rectangle with Momento Potters Clay ink. Then I stamped the sentiment on an Emma tag, added a flower and brad from D314 – Polo Mini Blossoms and used pop dots to make the tag stand out a little.

I don’t usually use a sketch for designing cards so it was a little challenging at first.  When I start planning a card I first think about the occasion and then choose an appropriate stamp for the occasion.  Then I play with how I want the card to look. Certain stamps go better on a horizontal layout and others work better with a vertical layout. Working with the sketch made me reverse the process. I had the layout and had to then figure which stamp sets would work best. Lastly I chose the color scheme.  Made me think outside my box, which is a good thing!

I hope you enjoy my cards and work with the new sketch for the week. Don’t forget to post your creations.  And most of all I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful day.

Keep on stamping!

Pam
