#315 Sprinkle & Sparkle Debut | Vera Lane Studio

Thursday, August 10, 2017

Sprinkle and Sparkle made their debut at Vera Lane Studio this week and I'm so in LOVE!

These darling little fairy sisters come with, and without, body text.  This really expands your designing options and is great if you're a paper piecer like me.  There is also a flower, an adorable bee and two perfect sayings.
I was playing with Fireworks! on watercolor paper and splashed some onto my darling little fairy ... and instantly this little cutie was transformed into a bookmark.  I send so many of these in the mail ... I never have enough ... so it was a happy accident!  {smiles}

This journal layout is inspired by the work of Miranda van den Bosch ... I know ... it looks nothing like her creations ... but it is inspired by her.  Additionally, we've had artists in our Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group that have inspired me with their work ... and have made me want to create my own 'storybook art'.  'Storybook Art' is my own made-up, official term ... that's what this style makes me think of ... storybooks ... the kind I'd LOVE to have!
I really struggled to get good photos of this layout ... I have a sealer on top of my pages and no matter how I turned I got a glare somewhere.  I also have a good amount of Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz ... the perfect finishing touch for these delightful fairies.
The background pages are coated with acrylic paints.  I used a stencil and added some texture with Memento Grape Jelly.  I also added a background stamp with black StazOn ... I wasn't in love with the black so stopped before it got out of hand.

The fun part of this project was incorporating images from other collections to bring this little world to life.  VLS images work so well together!
All of my images are colored with Copics.  Since this was my first go at 'Storybook Art' I tried to keep the palette very simple and limited in range.  I have white spatters from paint and white highlighting with my White Posca Marker.

Have you noticed the eyes of the fairies and bees?  I call these my 'Corrie Eyes' ... after I saw Corrie Herriman do this technique ... a simple touch that brings so much life to the image.  You'll have to check out the VLS Facebook Group and see her FABULOUS creations with this set and the rest of the design team ... we are all LOVING these images!

For this layout I also used Snails Pace ...
and Doodle Garden ... for some larger than life flowers ...

I had SO MUCH FUN making this layout and plan on making more ... it's so good to go outside your own box!  And can I say that I LOVE being part of a community that inspires me so!

xoxo,
Mischelle
